How does the design consultation process work?

We bring the showroom to you. We visit your home to measure your windows and let you look at samples in your actual lighting. This is crucial because colors look different in your living room than they do in a store. We help you choose the right product, give you a price on the spot, and there is zero pressure to buy right then.

Do you use your own installers or sub it out?

We use our own trained installation team, no random subcontractors. Our installers are specialists in our products, work professionally, and leave your space clean when they're done.

Is there a charge for the estimate?

No, our estimates are completely free. We provide in-home consultations at no cost, giving you accurate measurements and personalized recommendations with no obligation.

How long does it take from ordering to installation?

It depends on the product. Some shades can be ready in a couple of weeks, while custom plantation shutters might take a bit longer to fabricate. We will give you a transparent timeline during your consultation so you know exactly when to expect us.

Wood interior shutters in Florida? Won’t they warp from the humidity? Great question and the answer is no; when you use the right shutter. We offer wood shutters made of eco-friendly, renewable materials suited for Florida’s humid climates and come with a limited lifetime warranty. There is nothing like the beauty of natural wood shutters.

Why Custom Window Shutters Improve Your Home

On an abstract level, it is easy to understand why shutters are such an improvement to your home. They are attractive, frame your windows in a way other treatments cannot, and are unique enough to make a real statement. But there are also essential, concrete benefits to consider.

Light Control

Even when your shutters are closed, they allow you to control the light entering your home. Operable louvers control that slates in your shutters, letting you decide how much light you want to allow in.

Visibility

With many other window treatments, your view is always partially obscured. However, when shutters are fully open, your view is essentially unobstructed.

Energy Efficiency

While how energy efficient shutters are will vary based on material and design, they are known for their ability to lower heating and cooling costs by reducing window temperature transfer.

Lifespan

Compared to most other types of window treatments, shutters are incredibly durable. Once you invest in them, there is no reason to anticipate a need for replacement.

Customized Shapes

There are many window styles that just aren’t suited to other types of window treatments. If you have arched, rounded, or diamond-shaped windows, shutters are likely the only solution.

Soundproofing

When closed, your shutters can help increase the soundproofing for your home by adding another, thicker layer between your interior and the outside.

Custom Interior Shutter Options

During your in-home consultation, we explain all the variables and options available to bring the ideal beauty and convenience to your Saint Petersburg home. Initially we review all styles and options available to make your Saint Petersburg home both beautiful and efficient. There are three primary steps:

Wood shutters in Florida? Won’t they warp from the humidity? Great question and the answer is no; when you use the right shutter. We offer wood shutters made of eco-friendly, renewable materials suited for Florida’s humid climates and come with a limited lifetime warranty. There is nothing like the beauty of natural wood shutters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do shutters help with soundproofing?

While no window treatment is 100% soundproof, shutters are one of the best options for dampening noise. The solid material creates an extra barrier that muffles street noise better than fabric shades.

Can you put shutters on a sliding glass door?

Yes, we can install bypass shutters on a track system. The shutter panels slide past each other, allowing you to walk through the door easily. It gives a very cohesive look if you have shutters on other windows in the room.

Are wood or vinyl shutters better for bathrooms?

For bathrooms, we always recommend vinyl or a composite material. Real wood can warp or crack with the constant humidity and moisture from showers. Modern vinyl shutters look just like wood but are completely waterproof.

What louver size should I pick?

It depends on your view and the size of your window. Larger louvers (like 4.5 inches) give you a much clearer view outside when they are open. Smaller louvers (2.5 inches) offer a more traditional, colonial look and are good for smaller windows.

Do shutters darken a room completely?

Shutters do a great job of blocking light, but they are not technically “blackout.” You will see thin slivers of light between the louvers and around the frame. Most people find this dark enough for sleeping, but if you need pitch black, we might suggest a different solution.

How long do shutters last?

Shutters are considered a permanent fixture and are incredibly durable. With proper care, they can last as long as you own your home. They don’t fray or fade like fabric treatments can over time.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ron with Sapphire Shades & Shutters was great. We built a new house in Florida and wanted motorized insect screens on the back balcony. Ron came out and measured while the house was still under construction and showed us sample screens, frames, etc. We opted for insect only screens with black tracks to match the house. He also made suggestions on how to hide the motor and cassette that holds the screens at the top.

We contracted with him, but had to wait until the stucco was on the house for him to do final measurements. No problem for Ron. I called him back once the stucco was on and within a couple of days one of his guys came out to do the final measure and they placed the order. I think it was 2-3 weeks to get the screens produced and then they came and installed them. The installer was obviously very knowledgeable and friendly. After install he showed us how to use the remote and how to adjust the screen positioning (if that ever became necessary).

I would totally use Ron and Sapphire Shades again in the future! 5 Stars!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Working with Ron was easy and effortless. He is very knowledgeable and has every possible fabric style you could imagine. His installer. “Eric” was terrific and got our shades up in no time. So very happy with the outcome and they were very price competitive compared to some big named companies. I’d highly suggest them for your shade needs.
